About Us

Windy Acres is a 1/8-acre vegetable farm in Saanich, lovingly operated by Mrs. Elizabeth Post and her family. Using a no-dig farming method, Elizabeth is committed to growing fresh, healthy, wholesome vegetables while caring for and building up the soil. Alongside her loving husband and their two children, she is working to create a small, thriving farm with a simple but important goal: make nutritious produce more affordable and accessible to everyone in the community.

Windy Acres is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to healthy, delicious food and that small-scale, sustainable farming can play a meaningful role in making that possible.

Practices

At Windy Acres Farm, we grow food using regenerative, no-dig farming practices that prioritize the long-term health of the soil and the surrounding ecosystem. Rather than tilling the ground, we leave the soil undisturbed to protect its natural structure, beneficial microorganisms, earthworms, and fungi that are essential for healthy plant growth. Every aspect of the farm is done entirely by hand—from planting and weeding to harvesting—minimizing soil compaction and reducing our environmental impact. We do not use pesticides or insecticides, instead encouraging biodiversity and natural ecological balance to help manage pests and support pollinators. As a plant-only farm with no animals, our focus is on building fertile, living soil through compost, organic matter, crop rotation, and continuous soil cover, creating a resilient system that produces nutritious vegetables while regenerating the land for future generations.
